GRID CONNECT SOLAR CASE STUDY 1
The single-income family of five embrace solar.
Redbank Plains residents Sarah and husband Jason have a busy family with three children aged 8, 6 and 5.
Sarah said “We have never been very energy conscious and our bills were always higher than all our friends and family.
“Because I work from home, I like to run our air-con all day and sometimes at night in summer plus heaters in winter. As a busy family we also use the dryer to save time.”
After completing some online solar research, Sarah contacted Superior Solar Solutions to see whether or not solar was a feasible option for the family’s available budget.
“We didn’t have a lot of money available to make the switch to solar but we knew it was something that would pay off down the track.
“I work mornings, starting at 7am so we are often up by 5 am to get the kids ready for school. Due to my husband’s spinal injury we are home all day but we use the most power from 3-7 pm with all the kids on TVs, laptops and games. This is also the time when I’m using things like the dryer and vacuum, and cooking dinner,” said Sarah.
The Taylors’ daily usage with AGL since getting solar has dropped dramatically.
“Before solar we were using 29.38 kWh at a cost of $8.39 a day. Our last bill was 12.60kwh at a cost of $2.09 which equates to $173 for the whole quarter.
We’re so happy with the results and the panels look great,” said Sarah.
